#120 - Make Your Career Story Real

Did things a little backwards this week

A simple message this week inspired by a post I shared to Instagram AND an idea I’ve been sharing a lot lately with clients who I’ve been coaching on their career storytelling.

Don’t be afraid to dive into the hard stuff. That's it. That's the note. The  tension , the  challenges  that were part of your experiences. That is where your most compelling story lays. That is the part the humanizes you and draws people into who you are and what your message is. Life is not all rainbows and lemon pies, and that’s okay because that’s what makes stories of it interesting. Here’s the video in case you don’t follow me on Instagram Don’t worry, this is still the best place to get the good stuff from me—insta is mostly quasi-spontaneous shares of things I’ve encountered on my own adventure of storytelling or already shared here.

So the next time you have to tell your career story think of ways you can integrate the challenges as well as the triumphs so it moves beyond a list of amazing things you didn’t and into the realm of compelling tale of who you are and how you’ve grown.

I hope this helps! Let me know your thoughts in the comments on the blog or reply to this note. I love to hear from you.

A Story Well Told – Possibly Your Own?

I need your help. I’ve been going back and forth on what educational offering to share in the new year with you and folks like you to help you get clear on your story. I’ve been doing a lot of work with clients through workshops and 1:1 coaching around career storytelling. That work has been deeply fulfilling and I think really helpful for folks trying to get clear on how to present themselves and their experiences as they navigate and grow their careers. But. I also have a more condensed one-week bootcamp version of my storytelling and branding course for marketers and small business owners that I’d love to share. Folks who have done  the longer course  have found it fulfilling but wished it wasn't over the course of a month.

Yes, I could do them both but time is not on my side to bring them both to life in a way that would make me proud. That’s where you come in…

I’d love to know which of the these two options YOU’D be most interesting in participating in in January. All my educational offerings are tailored to be accessible so I don’t want you to worry about cost when choosing. Just what would be most helpful and relevant as a storytelling offering for you?
